The Accords

What is a fragrance accord?

An accord is a blended aromatic composition — a mix of aromachemicals, naturals, and bases that reads as one coherent smell. Unlike a full finished fragrance, an accord is a building block: something you can layer, dilute, use as-is, or build on. Every accord in the collection is a complete smell on its own, not a raw ingredient.

How are these different from essential oils or fragrance oils?

Essential oils are single-source natural extracts — they smell like whatever plant they came from. Fragrance oils are finished consumer scents, often diluted and designed to smell pleasant. These accords are composed aromatic materials — deliberate blends built around a specific smell idea, closer to a perfumer's palette than a consumer product.

How do I use the accords?

The 5ml dropper bottles are undiluted accord concentrate. Most people dilute them in ethanol (typically 15–30% accord in perfumers alcohol for a skin scent) or add them to existing formulas. You can also layer them over other scents, use them in wax for candles, or incorporate them into body care — though each use case has its own dilution guidelines and some materials are not suited to all applications. If you are not sure, ask.

Are the accords safe on skin?

Accords are sold as concentrated aromatic materials for dilution and formulation, not as finished consumer products. We do not provide IFRA compliance testing, safety assessments, or finished-product documentation as part of the purchase. If you are formulating for retail or commercial use, you are responsible for appropriate testing and compliance in your region. If you have specific concerns about materials, email us and we can discuss what is in a particular accord.

Can I buy just a single accord in a larger quantity?

The store sells individual 5ml bottles. For larger quantities of a specific accord — for a formulation project or small-scale production — contact us directly to discuss what is available. Not everything in the collection is available in bulk at all times.

Samples & the Sample Program

What is the sample program?

The sample program is the entry point for white labeling. You fill out an application, choose up to three accords from the collection, and pay $50 to receive three 2ml vials. The fee covers materials and shipping. There's no obligation to move forward with white labeling after you receive them.

How long until I receive my samples?

We review applications before sending — not everything ships automatically. Once approved, samples typically go out within a few business days. Shipping time depends on your location. We'll let you know when they're on the way.

Can I order samples without going through the white label application?

The full 5ml bottles in the store are the way to buy accords for personal or formulation use. The $50 sample kit is specifically for people considering white labeling — it is not a retail sample program.

I received samples. What happens next?

Take your time with them. When you are ready to move forward, reply to your sample confirmation email and tell us which accord you want to work with. We'll walk you through the white label process from there — packaging selection, quantities, pricing, and timeline.

White Labeling

What does white labeling actually include?

You get a filled, labeled fragrance product under your brand name. We handle: the accord (the smell), filling into bottles, and applying your label. You provide: your label artwork, your brand information, and payment. See the pricing page for a full breakdown of what is in each stage.

What's the minimum order quantity?

Minimum quantities are listed on the pricing page. We start at 50 units. Lower quantities are sometimes possible — contact us to discuss your situation before assuming it won't work.

Do I own the formula?

No. When you white label an accord from the collection, you are licensing the use of that accord for your brand — the formula stays with Mirror House. If you brief a custom accord and pay for development, we can discuss ownership or exclusivity terms in writing before production begins. Nothing is assumed; everything that matters should be in your agreement.

Can I get exclusivity on an accord?

Collection accords are not exclusively available to any one brand by default. Exclusivity on an existing accord is something we can discuss — it carries a different cost structure. Custom accords developed for your brief can be structured as exclusive from the start. Get this in writing before anything is produced.

Do you provide IFRA compliance or safety documentation?

No. We do not provide IFRA compliance documentation, safety assessments, or regulatory paperwork as part of the white label service. If your product requires documentation for retail compliance in your region, that's your responsibility to arrange. We would rather be clear about this upfront than have it become a problem later.

How long does white label production take?

Lead times are listed on the pricing page and depend on order size and current production schedule. Rush options exist — see Stage 5 on the pricing page. We'll give you a realistic estimate when your order is confirmed, not a guess made before we've looked at your specs.

Orders & Shipping

Where do you ship?

We ship domestically within the US. International shipping is available for accord orders — contact us before ordering to confirm your country is serviceable and to discuss any restrictions on shipping aromatic materials. White label production orders have separate logistics depending on order size.

What's your return policy?

Aromatic materials are non-returnable once opened — this is standard for the category. If something arrives damaged or incorrect, contact us within 7 days with photos and we'll make it right. See the full returns policy for details.

Something went wrong with my order. What do I do?

Email hello@mirrorhousefragrance.com with your order number and what happened. We respond personally, not through a ticket system.
